Theatre Mask Intensive

UMO Ensemble, the Northwest's premiere physical theatre company, is offering an intensive course THE MASK IN PERFORMANCE: A Master Workshop for All Artists

This master workshop is an intensive introduction to the use of masks as instruments to stimulate discovery, invention and artistic creation. The context is theatrical but the masks and the process are designed to inspire and challenge artists from all disciplines.

This intensive training will introduce Neutral, Larval and Character masks and the essential disciplines of working with them in an exploration of the mask as inspiration for dynamic movement. The aim of solo and group improvisations is to embody the life of the masks and to uncover the universal experiences inherent within them. Training exercises are drawn from UMO's fifteen years of experience in the mask as a source of creation and performance, as well as from the teachings of Jacques LeCoq and Dr. Sears Eldredge (author, Masks in Actor Training).
